INFORMATION SHEET FOR MINI ODE
All riders should be dressed in their Club’s formal uniform (if they have them).
Riders are to be aged 10 Years and under
Riders may be on leadline or self-ridden
This event is run in a Competition Format to give riders the experience of a competition in a safe and supportive environment. It is specifically for riders under competition age for cross-country obstacles.
Ponies can be decorated with ribbons, bows and other blingy stuff, but given our status as a nature reserve, glitter is probably not a great idea!
DRESSAGE TEST - ***attached for download***
All riders will do the leadline dressage test, regardless of which class they are in. The dressage arena will be set up as a 40m x 20m. Unlike a standard ODE, callers are allowed. The riders will do their dressage test and then report to the SJ arena for their jumping.
Heights will be raised to a maximum of 45 cm, and start on the ground.
The cross country will be all on the club room side of the grounds – the 10 acres will not be used.
ALL RIDERS ON CROSS COUNTRY MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A RUNNER WHO IS CLOSE ENOUGH TO TAKE CHARGE OF THE PONY IF THE EXCITEMENT GETS TO ITS HEAD.
The schedule for the day will be such that the time for the cross country will coincide with the theory lessons for the older riders, so parents can get some volunteers to help with the running.
This is a lovely event and gives our younger members the opportunity to be centre-stage. There are no sheep stations involved but prize ribbons will be awarded.
