Camp-draft Regional Schools held by Zone 27 Pony Club over recent years have been run using bison instead of cattle as our training tools due mainly to the severe drought conditions the area was experiencing at that time. 2021 sees a return to the use of cattle as our training tool. In association with the return to great weather conditions, Camp-drafting has again become a major sporting activity for many Pony Club members.
Ian Laurie and Melanie Cochrane are our Instructors for this Camp-draft Regional School. Ian is the Senior Vice-President of the Southern Camp-drafting Association, Sporting Director of the Far South Coast and Monaro Zone and Chairman of the SCA Judging Panel.
Due to Ian's wealth of experience in the judging area there will be emphasis placed upon the judging rules and regulations within Camp-draft and essential competition do's and don'ts will be explored.
Melanie is extremely safety conscious and together with Ian will be concentrating on the 'safety' aspect of camp-drafting as it relates to rider, horse and beast.
